After You Have Achieved A Goal
When you have successfully achieved a goal its imperative you take the time to enjoy the satisfaction of having done so.
Absorb all the positive implications of the goal achievement, and observe the progress you have made towards other goals on your personal goal planner.
If the goal was one of you significant ones; reward yourself appropriately. Maybe book a weekend trip abroad or buy yourself something you have always wanted. Whatever the treat is try to gear it towards helping you achieve other goals. An example of this could be buying yourself a sailing lesson if one of your main goals is to sail around the Globe. All of this helps you build the self-confidence you deserve and subconsciously you are telling yourself that special treats follow successful goal completions.
Using The SMART Mnemonic To Help Set Goals
A mnemonic is a powerful mind or memory tool to assist in remembering information. Mnemonics are usually verbal like a short poem or even a special word. They are commonly used to help a person to remember something. They could also be that of a visual or auditory aid.
They rely on links between easy to remember constructs which can be related back to the initial data that is to be remembered. This technique is built on the fact that the human brain can recall data which is personal, sexual, spatial, surprising or humorous.
How To Achieve Your Goals
Before reading this post I suggest you read a related article called How To Plan And Set Goals. To successfully accomplish your goals you must firstly make sure you have stated each goal as a positive statement, in fact it is very important that from now on you try to make most statements positively.
One of my rules in life is to avoid negative people at all costs! Negativity is contagious! If you think positive, you will act and speak positive; as a result positive people will surround you: Positive events will then happen in your life!
How To Plan And Set Goals
Goal planning is an important process enabling you to highlight where you are today, where you want to be in the future and how to motivate yourself to turn your visions in to a reality. If you do not target your ambitions and aspirations you will have no direction and without direction you will be lost in life and The Rat Race.
Another key feature of goal setting is that it helps you to pinpoint where you need to concentrate all your efforts. And by achieving your goals; as you cross each one off your confidence and frame of mind will improve drastically. There is no better feeling in life than moving forward by accomplishment of tasks and goals.
Effective and Efficient Filing System
Filing is yet another duty most people either procrastinate over or do inefficiently, but this is an area where one should not stress over.
There are two main points to consider. Firstly bulk file at least twice per week, and secondly file the items into a well organised system. Lacking in this area and ultimately misplacing an important document can cost you both time and money so establish an effective system from day one if possible and adhere to it!
The System I Use
How To Handle The Paperwork Mountain
On my desk you will find just one folder, I hate an untidy and unorganised desk. I find that most people who scatter paperwork over there workspace are greatly stressed and subconsciously busy doing nothing!
Some time management and business system books will tell you whatever system works for you, is best. In my opinion this is terrible advice. I once worked with someone who’s desk and office looked like it had been burgled. It use to take up to ten minutes to find an item of paperwork and on many occasions some were lost for weeks. By having no clear workspace there is a tendency to accidently mix up paperwork and file incorrectly. He looked stressed, overworked and his inefficiency accounted for three hours of lost time each week.
Task Time Management System Using A PDA
The system I used today has been born out of much trial and error and combines the previous experiences with modern day advances in mobile telephones.
My current phone is a Blackberry Bold but any similar PDA type phone will suffice. Within the features of most PDA devices you will find a task system, and then within this option you will find the ability to categorise each task. I transferred my pen and paper system to the Blackberry system as follows.
- I established all my task categories into these headings; ‘At a Computer’, ‘At Home’, ‘At Office’, ‘Calls To Make’, ‘Errands’, ‘Learning Goals’, ‘Long Term Projects’, and ‘Reference Material’.
Effective Time Management System for Tasks
Job duties and work tasks for some people can cause stress and far too much concern than is needed. Completing your task list effectively is quite simply about finding a system which works for you and then making it a habit to use it constantly.
I get asked on many occasions how I manage to keep up with all my tasks, projects, business ventures, appointments, errands, trip planning and calls to make, and then still find time to disappear for six weeks every couple of months. Most people who ask me use multiple pieces of paper, post it notes and the back of their hands for jotting down to-do notes.
Effective Customer Inquiry Response Systems

If you own an internet based business then you no doubt get inquiries from potential customers from around the globe.
Inquiries can come via your online form, e-mail or even by telephone and fax and I’m sure you try to send information to each prospect as soon as possible. But when you have other duties to perform maybe there is still room for improvement. By acting swiftly it shows very good customer service and a hunger to satisfy the customer’s requirement efficiently, all of which increase the chances of winning the order.
