If you are a blogger or have an online business, and you have accounts with Twitter, Myspace, Facebook, Digg, Stumble Upon, You Tube, Linkedin, Reddit, Flickr etc; it is imperative you protect your brand or product name by securing your very own vanity name (Read more about vanity names here).

For example I have secured the following:

Dot Tel Domains

Dot tel domains were launched in March 2009 are a new top level domain giving users a “live” comprehensive listing in the first global, mobile-optimised online directory.

I have personally purchased over 500 premium dot tel domain when they were first released.  I’m by no means  a domainer but I could instantly see the attraction becasue of two reasons.  They are different to any other domain like dot com or dot net, and they utilise the fastest growing technology of the decade; mobile phones.
