facebook marketing and vanity namesFacebook is now proving to be a fantastic marketing tool and is competing with Google on pay per click campaigns.  As far as social marketing goes, this is the primary site to concentrate most of your efforts on.

Facebook is currently enjoying over 250 million Worldwide active members; it would be a mistake not to maximise its potential for the following reasons.

Search Engine Opimisation

Facebook has now release vanity domain names.  Meaning you can now have your very own Facebook domain name.  For example, my Facebook vanity domain name is www.facebook.com/lawrencesykes.

These types of domain names are much better than the original type with the miscellaneous strings on the end.  They are far more liked by the search engines and so will rank better and higher.  Brand names and Companies are being urged to secure there relevant Facebook vanity names before cyber-squatters beat them to it.

If businesses were quick enough to snap theirs up they will have ensured that their fan pages and Facebook groups will fare a lot better in Google and the other major search engines.

These vanity names are free, and to register you should follow the links upon signing in on your Facebook account.  Make sure you choose your name correctly as changing it at a later date will be near impossible.
