iphone 3GS Wont Turn On
The iphone 3g, 3gs and the iPhone 4 is a fantastic phone, but its not free from faults.
If the display screen will not activate and stays blank even when you press the sleep/wake button on the front of the phone; this post will show you how to fix this fault. (The good news is your phone is not broke!)
The Symptoms are:
- A blank / black screen
- Able to still hear text messages
- Able to hear calls coming in
- No way to answer.
If your iphone is suffering from one or more of the above, ‘don’t panic!’
Your screen can be fixed, easily!
The Fix
Press and hold down the Sleep/Wake button and Home button simultaneously for a least 10 seconds. The screen will clear out and then the Apple Logo will appear on the black background. When the logo appears it means that the reset is done.
Afterwards you’ll see your screen light up and you’ll be able to breath a sigh of relief. By the way, doing a soft reset as this is called, should not delete any apps or data held within your iphone.

hey, just asking because i’m experiencing the same problem but your solution doesn’t seem to work for my iPhone, i held both the sleep/wake button and home button for over 30 seconds upward and it will not turn on

i have the iphone 3gs 32GB . I always used to charge it with my macbook. Once when i had lost charger of my macbook. then i tried to charge the iphone with the socket charger. However it was running well. Then when i bought a macbook charger then tried it to charge with the macbook. everything was going fine till the battery charged up to 25 percent. then suddenly macbook disabled charging my iphone saying that it was drawing too much power. Then it finally was fully discharged. Then i took it to apple store then it was not taking charge and they said that it may be due to failure of charging ic and could not repair it since at that time they were lack of that. firstly it used to show the non charging flash in the screen. but now it neither charge, nor turn on.. i tried everything, like hard reset…putting in dfu mode and every macrumour forums but the screen is totally blank..Does it mean that my iphone is completely dead..or are there any ideas about it just help me out ..thanks in advance…
