If you are new to Affiliate Marketing and domain buying, one thing you should be made aware of from the outset, if that most of the best domain names have been taken.
But all is not lost. To purchase a good enough domain which will still assist you to generate traffic, all you need to do is follow the following steps.
- For ideas and inspiration head on over to Google Trends and discover whats hot online at the moment.
- Then choose the affiliate program you wish to advertise. If you have not listed yourself as a publisher yet – I recommend you visit Affiliate Window. They have by far the easiest dashboard to use.
- Go to the Google Keyword Suggestion Tool.
- Type in the theme of affiliation program. For example ‘online casino’.

- Finally, once you have several potential domain names that encompass the keywords/key-phrases from your chosen affiliation market, we now suggest you go to the Google home page. Type each of the potential domain names into the search box but place them inside speech marks. For example “online casino games”. Notice the number of results below the search box? If this is less than 100,000 you will have a chance of getting your website to page one via natural search optimisation.
- Once you have selected a list of ten potential domain names, head on over to your preferred domain name registrar, I recommend Go Daddy as they are cheap and the dashboard is easy to use. Type the keyword into the search box. If its available in (order of priority) .com, .co.uk, .net, .org, .biz or even .info, then snap it up.

Search engines do not notice the ‘-’ symbol, it just makes it harder to give out your domain name verbally as most people do not understand what a hyphen (’-') is.
So to summarise: You want a keyword or key-phrase that has more than 5000 exact searches per month, with less than 100,000 competing sites and has a bid value of £1 or more. This will allow you to easily rank on page one for your chosen niche.
