Help – Wheres All My WordPress Blog Posts Gone?
If you have a Worpress Blog and Host your files on Hostgator, you might recently realised that all your Blog Posts have vanished or worse still, been deleted…
Don’t worry – they have not been deleted!
On 26th August 2010 Hostgator updated their security and this caused an error with the SQL databases causing some blogs to crash. Upon first glance it looks like your blog posts have been moved or deleted.
This actually happened to this website! Although I rigorously backup my data, my heart still sank! I put a lot of effort and energy into creating unique content and more importantly, driving traffic to the site. The fear of loosing some content or just having the site down for hours really annoys and frustrates me.
The Fix:
Logon to your Hostgator control panel, within the Hostgator Links Window you will see an icon called ‘Live Chat Support’. Click on there and wait for the chat box to appear. Advise them that you are aware of the SQL database problem and that it has had an impact on your website. They will fix it within seconds! The best thing about Hostgator is their customer support!
Although I don’t usually blog about matters like this – I though it necessary as some of my readers will have signed up to Hostgator because of my recommendation. So I really hope this post will help all those affected by this error. According to Hostgator it wasn’t many websites affected but one never knows!!
