Category Archives: Enhancing Your Life

I have now been weight training for over six years and it is only recently whilst trying ‘The Colorado Experiment’ that I am seeing significant results.  As a ‘hard gainer’ I have undertaken many different routines with little success.  I have tried different diets and new innovative supplements all to no avail.

After many failures it is hard to keep motivated!  Finding a routine that actually works has been a major breakthrough for me.  But what makes the ‘Colorado Experiment’ different, why does it work on me when everything else fails?

weightlifting routine that works the colorado experimentWhether you exercise for fun, body build for muscle growth or just train to simply keep fit, having a healthy body is as equally important as having a healthy mind.  Many successful people excel in their work yet neglect their body and health.  It is very important to have a well balanced life, but life within The Rat Race is always at a fast pace and trying to pack a session in at the gym is always difficult.

If you actually do none of the pre-mentioned then I hope this article convinces you to get healthy, and that you do not need seven hours in the gym of hard intensive training to build the body you have always wanted.

The Rat Race is a term often associated with an endless pursuit for wealth, which is in fact a pointless ambition.  It is a metaphor for lab rat trying to escape its cage or a maze but ultimately just runs round in circles; its attempts are completely futile.

In a parallel view to a modern city, it is many rats running around a large cage or maze; yet ultimately achieving nothing worthwhile or meaningful, either as individuals or as a group.

rush hour in The Rat RaceI Love To People Watch On A Monday Morning

Where ever I am on the Planet, most Monday mornings you will find me sat in a coffee shop, close to a window. I love to look outside and observe people in the Rat Race. They look sad, worried and stressed. They rush round like their lives depended on it, they don’t look at other people, let alone give a friendly stare. If you asked anyone of them what they wish for at that exact moment, it would be for Friday to come round quick.

retirement planningPlanning to retire at 60 or 65 and live on savings and investments built up over your working life is majorly flawed.

Members of The Rat Race usually work on average forty hours per week, five days per week, forty eight weeks per year.  If they started work at eighteen and then finished at sixty five, that’s forty seven years of good life, good health and precious time WASTED away!

There are two scenarios which members of The Rat Race (who work for someone else) usually follow:

gold fish bowl bigger world outsideDo you think a fish that has only ever lived in a small fish tank, knows that there is a bigger World outside of the tank?  This is exactly the same for people inside of The Rat Race, they know of no other life, because society needs the majority of the population to be like worker ants, otherwise society would break down!  Therefore we are brain washed at a young age.  I am testament that even if one is brought up to be a worker ant; it’s still possible to break free from the cycle.

These are the rules and regulations of the Rat Race.  Albeit a humorous look; but there’s some element of truth.

  1. Rush to your place of work, avoiding smiling and if you’re driving avoid giving way to other motorists and pedestrians. If you’re on public transport struggle to breathe as you are packed in like a sardine.
  2. Whilst at work, sit there all day filling your time sending irrelevant emails and undertaking irrelevant tasks. (Most people with proper use of their time could actually complete their duties in a 1/10th of the time).

wisdom‘Wisdom is understanding, discretion, knowledge, experience and an intuitive understanding, along with the ability to apply all these qualities to help find the solutions to life’s problems’.

Unfortunately wisdom is not something we are all born with. This is knowledge past down to us by out elders, more importantly by our parents.

I like many people never had the privilege of having wise parents. I’m not for one minute saying they lacked an understanding on life. I’m saying their mindset was integrated in to the Rat Race system. They knew of no other way!

judas was not a friend

Like many successful people, I have learnt the importance of a concept called ‘The Circle of Friends’.  I have both an inner and outer circle of friends!

Inside the circle I have about four people I can trust and rely on. We have no secrets, and we protect each others interests totally unconditionally.   Outside the circle are fair-weather friends and business/personal acquaintances. I keep them close, but not too close where they can cause me harm or grievance. They have never gained my trust and probably never will.
